Prairie Arts Festival At West Point, MS – 2023 Fall Festival Not to Be Missed!

We went to the Prairie Arts Festival in West Point, Mississippi, a few years ago. This was the first time that I had attended this event, which takes place on Saturday that comes right before Labor Day. It is so much fun and you should not miss it!

Mississippi’s Main Street, West Point

The festival takes place in the central business district of West Point. It opens to visitors at nine in the morning and closes at five in the afternoon, and huge crowds attend. More than 600 different exhibitors will be present at the Prairie Arts Festival, which also features down-home southern cooking, live music on four stages, classic cars, Kidsville, and a variety of other activities and attractions.

The festival extends into Sportsman’s Park and Marshall Park, and it takes over the streets of the downtown area. It is ranked among the top 100 festivals in the country and among the top ten festivals in the southern region. During the busiest hours, there are so many people that it is difficult to move around.

There are four stages at the festival, each of which features live musical performances. Country, gospel, bluegrass, rock, rhythm and blues are just some of the genres that are represented here.

The majority of the stallholders and musicians are locals who hail from the surrounding communities in central Mississippi. They sell a variety of wares, including arts, crafts, and antiques. The prices that we looked into were fair and within our price range. We had a good time chatting with the different vendors. They didn’t appear to be in a hurry at all. even when there was someone else waiting in line behind me.

Overflow from Marshall Park.

The fact that it is typically very hot and humid during this event is the only drawback to attending. The year was not an exception to the rule of high heat and humidity. You could easily work up a sweat without even putting any effort into moving around. You should consider yourself fortunate that you are used to the warm weather at this time of year, particularly if you live in Mississippi.

This time, we brought along two kids, and they both had a great time at the festival. They were successful in locating some handmade jewelry, and they enjoyed the chicken on a stick, cotton candy, and enormous cold slurpy soft drinks that were available. I feel obligated to point out that the prices were considerably more reasonable than others that I have observed at other festivals that we attend.

The food was delicious, and there was a large selection to choose from. For a very long time, West Point served as a breeding ground for Smoke Cooker food. Cooking pork shoulders, brisket, ribs, and steaks have helped several neighborhood residents build a successful business. When you arrive in West Point, take a good look around, and you’ll notice that smoke is coming from vacant lots. Take a break and enjoy a mouthful of heaven. Instead of being a place where people come together, West Point is more of a smoke cooker.

Howlin Wolf’s birthplace, West Point, Mississippi

The state of Mississippi is the birthplace of a significant number of blues’ all-time greatest musicians. Howlin Wolf, a famous blues singer, was born close to West Point, Mississippi, and throughout his lengthy career, he frequently visited this area, as well as playing music here.

At Anthony’s Market on Main Street, you can get your hands on one of our most cherished steaks of all time. The seafood sold here is on par with that sold in any coastal town in the world.

If I’ve to whet your appetite for some barbecue, there’s no need to hold off until the next festival to satisfy it. This quaint little town offers a diverse range of entertainment options. The Mossy Oak Outlets are located in this building. People from all over the world come here to fish and hunt, and they bring their tackle boxes with them so they can stock up.

The city of West Point is not only one of the most attractive places in North Mississippi but also one of the most powerful. The metropolitan areas of Columbus, Starkville, and West Point, all located in Mississippi, comprise what is known as the Golden Triangle. The Golden Triangle Regional Airport is located close to West Point and provides daily service to the cities of Memphis, Tennessee and Atlanta, Georgia. In and around West Point, there is a robust manufacturing sector that is focused on industrial and high-tech goods.

Mossy Oak Camouflage is a brand of hunting clothing that is well-known among hunters worldwide. The headquarters of Mossy Oak is located right here in West Point, Mississippi. Their large building, which is colored like camouflage, can be found on US Hwy45, which is on the southwest side of town. Their hunting equipment is distributed all over the world from their location, which happens to be right here in the middle of everything… West Point, MS.

Golfers, both famous and infamous, travel to West Point to play at the Old Waverly Golf Club, which is known all over the world. This golf course and country club restaurant are located just outside of town and were constructed around an antebellum home. It caters to patrons with the most refined palates.

Golfers come to stay and play during their time here. In addition to the many rooms, villas, and condos that are available for lodging, there are also a number of restaurants and dining areas. At Old Waverly, there are wonderful accommodations available for both families and individual players.

After we had completed our circuit of the festival, we were parched and exhausted from all of the walkings. Because of my feet, I started singing a song that was popularized by the Duke of Pacucah on the Grand Ole Opry… “Boys, take me to the wagon,” she pleaded. These shoes are torturing me to death. When I looked up at that precise moment, a multicolored miracle had come to rest approximately 15 feet away from where I was standing. It is the Shuttle Tram that transports people who are too weak or dizzy to walk to their cars. We then boarded the vehicle.

There is a fall festival that takes place close to you no matter where you live in the world. The festivals that are held in close proximity make for wonderful day trips. Within a radius of one hundred miles from our community in central Mississippi, there are more than a dozen festivals that take place throughout the course of the year. My guess is that there will be about the same number close to where you live. The Prairie Arts Festival will be held in West Point, Mississippi on the Saturday before Labor Day. If you want to see how festivals should be run, then you should come to this festival.
